New ICT Initiatives
(a) University Management System (UMS) Project
Vidyasagar University has taken up the initiative of implementation of fully dynamic, integrated and real-time ERP software driven intelligence to strengthen the interdependent relationships of various departments in the University to bring in more efficiency, transparency and excellence in service delivery.
The basic objectives of the project are:
- Efficient delivery an integrated solution to Connect Affiliated Colleges, University departments involving management team, teachers and the students.
- Empower different departments within the university through dissemination of information about various interrelated and integrated processes and information.
- Bring about smart changes with optimal use of Information Technology.
- Storage, analysis, co-relation and easy retrieval of statistical data.
- Timely Management Information System and Decision Support System.
The functional areas managed are PG Student Management, UG Student Management, Examination Section Management, Finance Section Management , PhD Program Management, Distance Education Section Management etc.
(b) Network Infrastructure Upgradation:
To improve availability, stability, speed and overall performance of the LAN and internet facilities, University is upgrading (cost approx. 3.25 crores) the complete lan and wi-fi infrastructure with the new next generation netork and wi-fi devices which includes renowned products (Firewall Security Devices, Switches, Wi-Fi controllers, Indoor and Outdoor APs etc. including complete software licensing).

Virtual A/V Centre
A-Virtual Audio Visual Centre is being established in the Computer Centre to conduct virtual classes,
transmit live lectures and Multimedia materials and generate e-content thereby. The A-V centre may also
be used as various eminent lectures, recording etc. This facility will be offered to all faculty members of
the various departments, all the PG students and other communities of the university so that they can use
the various NME-ICT services in their research and course curricula.

Additional Redundant Link
The University is also obtaining another redundant link of 100 MBPS Connectivity.
