a). Workshop held at Digha during 29-30 March, 2019
Introduction: Aiming at propagating scientific views on fishing activity for building the adaptive and resilient capacity of fisheries at the coastal locations of West Bengal, a two-days National Workshop on “Operational Oceanography to Serve Coastal Communities in West Bengal” was held during March 29th- 30th , 2019 at Hotel Jairam Hi-Tide, New Digha, Purba Medinipur. It was jointly organized by Centre of Environmental Studies, Vidyasagar University and Indian National Centre for ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Govt. of India as an outreach programme.
Objective of the Workshop: This workshop aims at propagating scientific views on fishing activity for building the adaptive and resilient capacity of fishers at the coastal locations of West Bengal. The two-days (29th -30th March, 2019) National Workshop on "Operational Oceanography to Serve Coastal Community of West Bengal"has been arranged with an objective for the awareness of the stack-holders on INCOIS Services and to sensitize scientific and academic community on the necessity of Operational Oceanography for sustainable future.
Special Lectures:
Prof. Malay Mukhopadhyay, Dept. of Geography, Visva Bharati and Dr. Parthasarathi Chakrabarti, Former Chief Scientist, DST, Gov. of W.B delivered inaugural special lectures on 19/03/19.
Dr. Parthasarathi Chakrabarti delivered his special lecture on "Changing Courses of Eastern Himalayan Rivers: Flood Hazards & Irrigation Aspects - Linking of Brahmaputra – Ganga Rivers".
Prof. Malay Mukhopadhyay delivered his special lecture on "Geomorphosite Geotourism Development through Installation of Marker Stone: A new approach in Applied Geomorphology".
